HUI 358 - Nation and Migration in Transnational Cinema

A cross-cultural exploration of how migrants and migrations have been represented in films from different genres and cinematic traditions across the globe, with consideration of how race, ethnicity, religion, and nationality affect migrants’ sense of belonging or unbelonging. Films will be paired with literature about migration and critical theory. Topics and national focus may vary. Covers the Interdisciplinary topic for the English major.
