LIN 203 - Introduction to Syntax and Morphology


The course discusses the basic principles according to which words and sentences in natural language are composed, taking into account data from English and a variety of unrelated languages. In addition to principles of word and sentence composition, the course also concentrates on the usage of the scientific method in the study of language. Students will learn how to analyze linguistic data in terms of morphological and syntactic characteristics and how to represent human knowledge of language in a formal linguistic framework.
