FRN 441 - French Civilization A discussion of French civilization from the creation of the modern state to the present. The course is intended for those interested in studying the background and traditions of modern France. An anthology of historical texts and documents serves as a point of departure; the institutions and life in France are considered, along with the development of art, architecture, music, and literature. The emphasis is on discussion (in French) and individual projects. Visiting lecturers contribute to the variety of topics and points of view.
