EGL 351 - Documentary Cinema: History, Theory, Practice Inquiry into the history, theory, and contemporary practice of documentary cinema. Focus on the historical development of the genre of documentary film, its major theoreticians, and the various modes in which documentaries engage in capturing “reality,” across national and cultural boundaries. A selection of recent global documentary work on subjects of political, social, and cultural importance introduced during weekly screenings. Covers the Genre or Media topic for the English major.
