MUS 189 - Introduction to Jazz Improvisation
For beginning Jazz students. Introduction to Jazz techniques and performance with an examination of Jazz melodies, chords, charts, and an introduction to Jazz history and listening. Experience playing Jazz is not a requirement. Basic instrumental technique and some experience listening to Jazz are required. One must audition for MUS 189; auditions are held in the first week of classes. Sign up sheets will be posted outside the music office (3304 Staller Music Office) the week before classes start.
