AFS 373 - Sexualities: African and Caribbean Perspectives Designed to introduce students to the complexities of human sexuality from a perspective that places subaltern individuals at the center of the analysis. It locates these individuals, and their sexual practices, in the tropics–or “warm, warm climates”–first in those man-made communities where sexuality was one of the (unspoken) exigencies of the slave economy and later in the modern era where the slave economy gave way to “neo-colonies.”
