HPD 675 - Cost Benefit/Cost Effectiveness Analysis This course will introduce students to the welfare economic foundations of cost benefit analysis. Consumer surplus will be defined and related to the concept of net benefits. Related measures of economic evaluations commonly used in health care applications, including cost effectiveness analysis and cost utility analysis, will be reviewed. The course will examine individual components of economics evaluations, including cost measurement, alternative benefits measures, discounting, and techniques for addressing uncertainty. Published research illustrating the application of alternative types of economic evaluations will be discussed, and students will be expected to present and critique these studies.
