HAY 527 - Foundations of Patient Care Emphasizes patient care in the acute care environment. Prepares students for functional mobility training for patients in all settings. Applies the laws of physics to body mechanics in order to safely and effectively assist patients with bedside functional mobility training. Prepares students to effectively guard patients during ambulation and engage in gait training with assistive devices. Students will perform initial evaluations, create physical therapy plans of care, and use vital signs and lab data to guide clinical decision making. Engages students in simulation-based learning experiences and integrated clinical experiences with patients of varying diagnoses and complexity to prepare them for their first clinical education experience.
