HDC 821 - Year IV Clinic Special Needs Dental Care Persons with developmental disabilities often present with medical and behavioral issues which require treatment planning skills that differ from management of the “well” patient. This course teaches the provision of comprehensive dental care for the developmentally disabled individual. Students learn to assess the risks to oral disease, develop treatment plans appropriate to the developmentally disabled patient’s profile and provide treatment in a clinic setting, learning specific behavioral modification and management techniques. The course consists of lectures and clinical experience.
