HDS 601 - Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery The General Dentist must be able to establish a diagnosis and manage conditions which require oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures. In addition, the dentist must be able to perform basic surgical procedures within their scope and knowledge. This course provides a comprehensive overview of diseases and conditions, as well as the medical and surgical management provided by oral and maxillofacial surgeons for those conditions. In depth discussions on dentoalveolar surgical procedures provide a foundation for managing patients in the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic courses in Year II, III and IV.
