HWC 578 - Advanced Social Work with Groups This course explores the principles and practice of group work in assisting clients to maximize psychosocial functioning. Class members will participate in an experience that encourages them to realize the power of group work process and usefulness of this modality. Group work techniques, context, dynamics, skills and the role of the group facilitator are discussed. In presenting group work with special populations students learn about the impact of issues including development, discrimination, illness, addiction and separation on the commonality of the human experience as it presents in group practice.
