HWC 513 - Social Work Practice I Provides a foundation for generalist practice, including the knowledge base, values and skill development necessary for ethical and effective practice with individuals, families, groups and communities. Students are introduced to the helping process across client systems and across the life span through a strengths perspective and empowerment approach to practice. Evidence-based short-term therapies are used to guide direct practice to address resilience and human development. Class meets two hours in-class and one hour of instructor directed assignments.
