HWC 510 - Social Policy and Social Determinants This course builds upon the Foundations of Social Justice: Challenging Oppression course through the discussion and exploration of social policies, social determinants of health, and contemporary & historical social movements that have arisen to challenge oppression. This course utilizes frameworks for social policy analysis while addressing continuing dilemmas in policy development. Experiential learning and beyond-the-classroom experiences introduce students to the processes and dynamics of social movements, social change, and their effects on social policy. Class meets two hours in-class and one hour of instructor directed assignments.
