CIV 260 - Engineering Mechanics


Fundamental principles of engineering mechanics applied to particles and rigid bodies, including statics and introductory dynamics of particles and rigid bodies. Topics include force systems, equilibrium, kinematics and kinetics, work¿energy and impulse¿momentum methods, distributed forces, centroids, moments of inertia, trusses, and internal forces in beams. Emphasis is placed on modeling, free-body diagrams, and applications relevant to civil engineering. Provides foundational preparation for mechanics of materials and structural analysis. Not for credit in addition to MEC 262 .
