AAS 521 - Language and Reality For over two millennia, classical Sanskrit philosophers have debated on the topic of the interlinked relationship between language and reality. We can find nuanced responses to issues such as naturalism versus constructivism, reality and representation, or language and concept from different philosophical traditions, Asian and Western. In exploring central concepts on language and reality from cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary perspectives, this course addresses the fundamental issues in both philosophy and culture, enriching students’ experiences and facilitating their response to issues associated with cultural and linguistic diversity.
